Advocacy

In order to make a difference, one must start small.

Advocacy is being the voice for  a group of people who can’t speak for themselves. There are many different definitions of advocacy; our group chooses to use the definition by Dean E. Mundy. We take his definition of advocacy from his scholarly works,  “The spiral of advocacy: How state-based LGBT advocacy organizations use ground-up public communication strategies in their campaigns for the “Equality Agenda.”

Advocacy is defined as something that, “emphasizes that substantive change occurs from the ground up; change nationally requires a critical mass of support first at local levels,” (Mundy, p. 388).  This article also touches on how smaller perspectives provide a unique insight to how advocating a certain topic and spreading word can engage and influence larger organizations of people.

Our goal is to draw as big of a following as we can, and hopefully reach a large market.
